Hudson River State Hospital
Hudson River State Hospital was one of the many state hospitals I had wanted to visit. It has upon it's campus a very old kirkbride building. For a long time this building had been the main focus of the campus. Yet, soon as the hospital grew, it built large cottages around the kirkbride. Over time, as the campus continued to expand, the hospital decided to move it's patients out of the kirkbride and only use the administration part for a little while longer before moving out all together from the building. Soon the whole hospital moved a short ways away from it's old campus leaving it there to decay. When I had explored there, the kirkbride was in a serious state of decay. Much of the old sections were falling apart and collapsing. I found many parts where all three floors had fallen down into the basement. However, what was surprising was the state of the admin part that had been used right up until the move to the new campus. All together, this was a fun trip where many things could be seen.
