Danvers State Hospital
I had been wanting to go to this place for a long time. I've been researching asylum history for a long time. Like the majority of those who do research, I could point to certian hospitals and say: "yea this place was bad," or "this place was good." However, I could not put my finger on what made Danvers State Hospital popular? While it does have some of the most stunning Kickbride architecture, it's past wasn't as bad as other mental hospitals. Sure, there was a lot of misery there and it did have a huge over-crowding problem, but overall many other hospitals had the same problems. Probably the biggest reason for it being popular may be that it was featured in the movie: "Session 9." This place will be one that will stand out in my memory.
