Buffalo State Hospital
During vacation I had some time on my hands and I decided that it would be a good trip to go and see the grand Buffalo State Hospital. Even though it was a little over forty degrees and snowing I was thoroughly impressed at what I saw. Buffalo State Hospital is an old very ornate Kirkbride style asylum. The hospital was built with flag stone in a Gothic style. What was even more unusual of this design was that instead of using one tower on top of the main administration building, this hospital had two towers. Later on as the hospital was expanded (and completed) the later additions were done using brick. Currently the building is a historic landmark. The flagstone portions of the hospital is still standing strong with little wear, yet the brick portions are falling apart.
